The UnitingCare Pilgrim Child Care Centre provides occasional care to families in our community who need short term child care or much needed ‘time out’. It also provides care to new migrants in our community who feel safe to leave their children with us while they attend English language classes at TAFE. This is a special privilege for us at the Child Care Centre, and we have become experts in caring for non-English speaking children, newly arrived, with cross-cultural challenges ahead.
Our childcare centre is in the heart of the city which may provide families with a much needed break while taking care of business in town, and our staff are well qualified and committed to providing fun, child-safe and professional care within contemporary licensing requirements.
Although we may seem small, because we have a maximum of 25 children at any one time, the laughter and learning we offer is big. Our children love our fairy room, our jumping room and being the captain of our boat.
We are able to work in with other UCFS family services and our staff and services can cross refer clients, and join together for mutual activities. Certainly the child care centre has been able to lighten the load and lift the spirits of the staff of family services when their day seems a little sad after working with difficult relationships and angry adults.
